The Edgewater Lodge Whistler | Yoshi & Jen’s Wedding

Have you ever met two strangers and connected instantly?  I did.

One could say it was meant to be.  Yoshi (from England) and Jen (from the U.S) were both in Japan blossoming in their respective teaching careers.  They had never tried internet dating but after being separately convinced by friends to try it, they both logged in to Pinksofa and decided to only try it for the one week free trial.  They instantly found each other, never even contacting anyone else. They went on a first date and the rest of their story was written!  They walk and talked for hours and have been inseparable ever since.

With friends and family on every continent, their wedding could of taken place anywhere but they choose The Edgewater Lodge in Whistler.  They had never been, they loved the natural beauty, the friendliness of strangers but most of all the genuine happiness from everyone regarding their union.  And so the planning began.

Upon discovering The Edgewater Lodge, they knew that was it.  The venue is unique.  Complete privacy, a casual setting for their guests, a rustic natural look, amazing staff and food to die for just to name a few reason why they fell in love with it. And why it’s one of my favourite place on earth.  And so with the help of the ladies from Sea to Sky Celebrations the journey began.

The gorgeous decor for Yoshi & Jen’s wedding was a labor of love from the extraordinary Kerry from Sea to Sky Celebrations.  The ladies used Pinterest for inspiration and together with Kerry, they created a board to showcase their ideas that Kerry then turned into reality.

The ladies had one of the most unique moments I have witnessed.  They each walked with their fathers to meet up at the at the beginning of the aisle and then proceeded to walk together hand in hand.  It was beautiful and touching.

They had such a strong connection with every single guest at their wedding that everyone was engaged in their vows, me included.  There was not a dry eye anywhere to be seen. It was beautiful.

With the help of the planners, Yoshi had secretly arranged for a unique surprise for Jen.  All along their relationship, the girls use to always joke that “they would marry the pants out of each other”.  And so all the guest were asked to go buy the craziest looking underpants they could to create this banner that would only be revealed to Jen as they were introduced as partner for life.  The reaction was fantastic.

I have never been so honoured to photograph wedding shoes! These rainbow crocs were just one of the many fun ways for the girls to accessorize not to mentioned the gorgeous rings from Tiffany & Co.

We set out for a walk around The Edgewater Lodge, one of the reasons why I love this venue so much is that you can capture so many fun backdrops without ever having to leave the area.  It makes it relaxing and allows the couple the privacy they seek while also feeling very natural.

The evening was filled with laughter and great stories.  It truly felt like I was witnessing a very special moment for everyone involved.  A great indication of how much love everyone has for these two very special ladies.

Jen & Yoshi, thank you for your trust, your friendship and teaching me to always take time to laugh and be silly.
