Squamish Family Photographer
Family photography usually defaults to thinking about babies and toddlers and the wonderful first years of life when precious milestone’s are being reached; birthday’s or learning to crawl and walk. When Marine called asking if I could photograph herself, her brother and parents for a special gift to her mom I couldn’t be more excited. As I always say, it’s the moments in every day life that become the most special and God only knows, those ,moments are only just beginning at age one or two.
So meet beautiful Marine, her brother and parents.

Little bums. Little fingers. Little toes. I will never get my fill of photographing all the beautiful parts of newborns. Little Casey was stealing a few quiet moments with his mom while they still can. It won’t be too long before Casey sees how busy life can be with his 3 older brothers.
And as it usually is the case with the little one’s in our lives, they find ways to continually teaching us something. Today’s lesson was to take a moment to bask in one another’s space and just be. Smart little boy.

I had a tall order that went something like this:
- A daughter who enjoyed skiing.
- Healthy parents that still skied when said daughter was old enough to hold an edge.
- A gorgeous sunny day.
- Epic snow conditions.
Somehow with the stars aligning my tall order came true and I have been able to check this one off my list of wishes. The day was perfect. A little playtime, some rehydration with snow licking, an energy boost with m&m’s, blue skies and memories that will be as vivid a decade from now as they are today. I guess mom’s and dad’s will always have a knack for making dreams come true…I can only hope to do the same for my little girl.

Just a short little teaser of an awesome shoot I did the other day. A few years back, Jodi and Todd hired me to photograph their wedding and now not too long afterwards they have their second “Coconut” on the way. More to come, but a little sweetness that I had to share for today.

Meet the McLeod’s. These boys are priceless and so sweet. We spent some time brainstorming where the perfect place would be for this photo shoot and in the end decided to start at their home and see where this adventure brought us. And well … we stayed. There is no better place than home sweet home. The boys were happy and relaxed which meant their parents were happy and relaxed! I guess I don’t need to tell you how it made me feel.
Yes, you guessed it … very happy indeed.

Precious, precious, blue eyed soulful Olive. Some children have years of wisdom in their bright beautiful eyes and I loved every second I had with this one. Olive just experienced life’s first big milestone; embracing toddlerhood and officially leaving infancy behind. She handled it with such grace. And just in case you weren’t too sure, drums are handy for chewing the sticks and cake is awesome for pounding. Yes, dear Olive you have got it right…. exploring, touching and tasting everything. Us adults have a lot to learn from little one’s like you.

I love invites like this one. To photograph a young family when I was also lucky enough to photograph the Joanne and Nigel’s wedding a few years back. It makes me feel like I’m part of the circle of life and gives such a deep meaning to why I pick up my camera each morning.
Aspen and Raven. Absolute delights. Sweet English accents. Here with mom and dad on a family holiday. Up the slopes we went to find the perfect place to do a few turns, build a snowman and taste the white stuff.

Kaï’ is a fighter. One of those precious little babes that held his place on this gorgeous Earth of ours but wasn’t given the easiest road to get here. After the worries, tears, sleepless nights and hearing an awful lot of encouraging words, his very proud maman and papa were blessed with his beautiful, healthy little self. The energy between the 3 of them is electric and if you’re lucky enough to be a part of a shared gaze between them the intensity almost makes you feel like you’re intruding.

Whistler Wedding Photographer | 2012 Photography Trend: Candid
Life is spontaneous. And great photography often is as well. Long after the wedding cake has been eaten, your photos will be pulled out and looked at over and over for years to come. The best photos will show you a small new detail each time you gaze at them or stir up the deep emotions of that exact moment.
Candid wedding photography is best fulfilled with a second shooter. At Gadbois, we focus on one photographer capturing the front of the scene and working closely with the couple while the second photographer can freely focus on the rest of the guests that are just as much a part of the story as the couple. The father of the bride embracing his wife or a grandma’s proud smile of acceptance. It’s a unique point of view that wouldn’t have otherwise been captured.
Candid photography doesn’t replace formal but there’s a time and a place for both. Here’s some of my favorite candid shots from the past year.

Coby has become part of our blog family now. This is part 3 of a 3 part series. I’ve been so honored to be invited into their home 3 times to document his amazing growth and incredible milestones. I love the challenge of capturing a child’s essence.
So here we are with Coby who is now walking and growing up into such a handsome young little fellow. Can’t wait to see what round 4 will bring us. Thank you so much for inviting me into your family.
