Squamish Family Photographer

Family photography usually defaults to thinking about babies and toddlers and the wonderful first years of life when precious milestone’s are being reached; birthday’s or learning to crawl and walk. When Marine called asking if I could photograph herself, her brother and parents for a special gift to her mom I couldn’t be more excited. As I always say, it’s the moments in every day life that become the most special and God only knows, those ,moments are only just beginning at age one or two.

So meet beautiful Marine, her brother and parents.

Squamish Family Photographer | Jack & Sean

Meet the McLeod’s. These boys are priceless and so sweet. We spent some time brainstorming where the perfect place would be for this photo shoot and in the end decided to start at their home and see where this adventure brought us. And well … we stayed. There is no better place than home sweet home. The boys were happy and relaxed which meant their parents were happy and relaxed! I guess I don’t need to tell you how it made me feel.

Yes, you guessed it … very happy indeed.

Whistler Wedding Photographer | Engagement Shoot | Jessica & Greg

Jessica and Greg. What a true treat this engagement session was. They epitomize my belief that all things beautiful and inspirational are right in front of you. All you need to do is open your eyes and ‘see’.

When considering the location for their engagement shoot, they decided to keep it close to home, close to their hearts and close to their family. Yes, all three 4-pawed members that are adorably cute and super smart. Mix them in with a couple in love that are, shall we say, very comfortable with one another and it’s a beautiful thing.

Loved the day. Thanks Jessica & Greg!

The magic doesn’t happen behind the lens, it happens in front. One of my all time favorite things is catching these precious moments with toddlers and young children. A change in mindset to get down to their level, watch them explore, follow their pace and let them lead. The perfect formula that makes the simplest things in life, amazing.

Squamish Family Photography | 4 Beautiful Boys

A fire truck, a piece of licorice, a spider, a dinosaur, a hockey net and a soccer ball. What does all of this have in common? Well, they are the prized possessions of 4 beautiful brothers. The Pearson family is truly blessed. I have to say right now, don’t go any further into this post unless you’re ready for your heart to melt.

Okay, don’t say I didn’t warn you!

Coming from my home with one quiet little girl, it’s always an entertaining treat for me to come and be with these boys. One of my favorite parts was watching how each boy was always looking up to the next older one, trying to keep up. The next boy doing the same. A chain of command of sorts. These little guys were just fascinating, full of life and so much fun. It was a great time for all!

Squamish Family Photography | Clémentine

I have been lucky enough to be the one capturing Clémentine’s shenanigans since she was only a couple of days old.

This time she was demonstrating her innate skill of sneaking up on an unsuspecting Mega Block.

Squamish Family Photography | The Boys and their Mama

To say I was a little on my toes with anticipation of this photo shoot wouldn’t be a lie. With family photography, I’m always trying to find what will make it unique, fun and memorable for all involved. I could just picture the 3 boys rolling their eyes in their head as they’re making their way to the location with their mom for this cheesy photo shoot.

Well, was I EVER surprised! It was amazing and just so much fun. Here’s how it all unfolded:

Find 3 confident boys. Yes.

Keep it real. Yes.

Pick a location that is a little remote so everyone can loosen up. Yes.

The result: Capture the brotherhood, the laughter, the looks and the unspoken words. Yes, I think so.

Then you look at Jessie, their oh so proud mama and ask her “Just how did you manage to raise these 3 sweet boys with such beautiful manners?”

Squamish Newborn Photography / 7 minutes

7 minutes old and already surrounded by love.

A pretty long 22 hours for the parents-to-be before that moment but love conquers all.

Squamish Family Photography – A Saturday morning for me and my girl

It’s been busy, good busy…no make that great busy.

This weekend is my first weekend in a while of just being at home with my girl. Time seems to fly by with her lately, already 3 years old and torn between that ever so interesting place of baby and little girl. I find it to be such a difficult balance to strike between my own life and my work world, especially when both require me to pack around my camera. But with my precious little girl, so wise beyond her years gives me a gentle reminder of how to own the moment and embrace  the simplicities that every day brings us. Our eyes just need to be opened to them.

This morning we enjoyed a simple walk in the forest. Yes, with my camera. And I kept the pace of my girl, or should I say speed! Pace sounds a little slow for what it was. Seeing the world through her eyes does amazing things to your spirit and energy. And for my immeasurable love for this funny little girl who thought it was a good time to strike a yoga pose while standing on the bridge.

It was a good morning…no make that a great one.
